The staff believes it was a little wilder than usual. A walk around campu will give you an idea of what we rnean. Many students found themselves leaving their lockers earlier this year because oft he new tardy policy which gave students an overall of ten tardies. lOPE I G Students take advantage of the cafeteria as a place to meet with old friends and to get to know new ones. Freshmen Kellie and Kim McKinzie meet in the Cafeteria along with their friends. Each student had an individual way of expressing him or herself, whether it was the way they dressed or where they hung out. Marty O'Mally, Julie Santoro, Dan Huffman and John Geister show offt heir own style on the Auditorium steps. OPENING 3 GO OWl F West's students and staff are truly diverse. Perhaps that adds to the overall wild side of each school year. With over 1,970 students and over 135 teachers, adminis trators and staff, this large Belleville West family had poten tial to make others stop and take notice. Although we were certainly most proud to show off our smart side and our talented side, people sometimes took note of our other sides, too. We had no trou West, as a whole, took pride in the accomplishments of the making this individuals, teams and organizations who succeeded both stand out from inside the classroom and outside of it as well as bringing in the past. Many students in organizations found them selves practicing before and after school for upcoming events. Although the first few weeks ofs chool were intensely hot and students re mained in the air-conditioned Cafeteria for as long as possible, as soon as the fall weather kicked in students looked forward to going outside when they finished et~ting. A E A W A I< The students of Belleville West weren't afraid to display their personalities this year. They participated in many clubs, ports, and events which gave them a chance to show their many side . In each section of this year book we will look at the different sides of West and its student . They put their best foot forward when demonstrating their talented side as many tudents took part in play , concerts and sporting events. They worked hard in their classes to show their intellectual side. Other students stayed out of the limelight by showing their shy side. And all students vvhether explore many they wanted to or not, showed that every person has a wild of West side. inhabitants. Other areas suffered from overcrowded rooms due to a hiringf reeze, fewer teachers in classrooms because ofa dded study halls and problems with the master schedule.
