Whether you have already decided to attend classes with us, or are still considering your options, there are several important things you should know about SWTJC. First off, you need to know that we are committed to your success in higher education. From assistance in applying for and receiving financial aid, to tutoring and career counseling, we offer a wide range of student services aimed at helping every student stay in school and earn their certificate or degree. Along with our commitment to students, we are also committed to the people and communities across the 11-county region we proudly serve. We work closely with area school districts to expand opportunities in dual enrollment classes and technical programs, as well as providing adult basic education classes and a broad range of workforce training and development targeting in-demand jobs throughout the region. Our classes are small and our instructors are highly qualified professionals with a passion for teaching. We offer the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees in a broad range of disciplines. We also offer degrees and certificates in 17 technical Hector Gonzales, Ph.D. programs, from cosmetology and welding to wildlife management, law enforcement and nursing. President Finally, you should know that in 2011 Southwest Texas Junior College was named one of the top Southwest Texas Junior College ten community colleges in the nation by a panel of education experts representing the prestigious Aspen Institute. Southwest Texas Junior College is a regional institution serving an 11-county area that stretches from the Texas Hill Country to the Mexican border.
