BEDFORDSCHOOLDISTRICT1994ANNUALREPORT THIS ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT REPORT DEDICATED TO MAYNARD CONTOIS IS FOR HIS 36 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE BEDFORD SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN BEDFORDSCHOOLDISTRICT1994ANNUALREPORT REPORTOFTHE BEDFORD SCHOOL BOARD JamesDias,Chairman FromJuly1,1993throughJune30,1994,the Bedford SchoolDistrictcontinued toprovide an excellent education forour students. The School Improvement Program (SIP) teams workedthroughoutthedistrictwithstaff,par- ents,andcitizenssharingthoughts,ideas,and conceptsonmethodstoimprovethewaychil- dren learn and grow, both in and out of the classroom. Theschoolboardproposed,andthevoters approved, a budget during the March, 1994 Annual School District Meeting which pro- vided for a new Assistant Principal at Peter WoodburySchool,aneweighthgradeteacher, and several new paraprofessionals. In addi- tion, it provided all funds requested by the three school administrators for books, sup- plies, trainingaids, and resource materialfor thechildrentoexcel. The 1993/94 school year produced many rewarding moments for the school district. McKelvieSchoolScienceteacherSaundraKent received the 1993 Presidential Award forEx- cellenceinScienceandMathematicsTeaching intheareaofSecondarySciencefromtheNa- tional Science Foundation.
