Glossary of Terms Adult abuse work This includes prevention, investigation and intervention in working with adults who are the victims of abuse (physical, emotional, financial, neglect and sexual). Leader Person who is going to train the trainers in a pool. Organisation This includes organisations within any sector (statutory, voluntary, independent) that could be involved in adult abuse work. Participant Person on a training course (including those on training-the-trainers courses). Pool Workers who have been brought together to provide training on adult abuse. Trainer Person who provides training. This could be someone within a training section, in a pool or an independent trainer. Training officer This includes anyone who has responsibility for organising training within an organisation or specific work setting, e.g. staff within traditional training sections; deputy managers in residential settings; development officers with a responsibility for training in adult abuse. Worker Person at any level working in any setting/organisation within the statutory, voluntary or independent sectors.
