Where else in Utah can you walk in a tropical rainforest, touch stingrays, go toe to toe with penguins or swim with sharks? The new Loveland Living Planet Aquarium will showcase ecosystems from around the world - marine, freshwater, desert, rainforests and wetlands – so guests can experience how together they make up just one global ecosystem, The Living Planet. | page 3 ... through the new Loveland Living Planet Aquarium... Otters Shark Tank Ocean Penguins Explorer Discover Research Utah Vessel Banquet Hall Lobby Journey to South America Café Gift Shop First Floor Entrance The new Loveland Living Planet Aquarium will feature four unique galleries. After entering the Discover Utah Gallery through a slot canyon, discover some of the interesting animals that make Utah their home. The highlight of this gallery is the North American River Otter Exhibit. Have fun watching these lively mammals frolic in both indoor and outdoor settings. Mysterious creatures await you in the Ocean Explorer Gallery. The premier exhibit of this gallery is the 300,000 gallon Shark Exhibit with a 40-foot tunnel where you can “walk through” swimming sharks, rays and fish. Be immersed in a vibrant rainforest when you enter the Journey to South America Gallery. Special features of this gallery are the arapaima, arowana, and catfish in the Amazon Giants Exhibit, free-flight tropical birds and a freshwater stingray touch pool. Travel through a replica of an ocean-going National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Research Vessel and find yourself facing up to 20 penguins in the Penguin Encounter. Move on to the Deep Sea Exhibit to view close up some unique fish, crabs and isopods that live in these cold, dark waters. The new aquarium has nearly a 2,500 guest capacity and features a Grand Lobby and 450-Seat Banquet Hall with a large viewing window into the Shark Tank Exhibit. These world-class amenities combined with the four main galleries creates the perfect environment to a host a wide variety of community events, personal functions, conventions and much more, making a lasting memory for all who attend. | page 4 Education Center LLPA Changing Offices Exhibits 4D Theater Research Vessel Interactive Play Area Journey to South America Second Floor The second level continues your journey in our new world-class facility through direct paths from the upper levels of the Journey to South America Gallery, Penguin Encounter and the NOAA Research Vessel. Experience a multisensory “ride” that employs interactive seats and unique special effects built into the theater itself in the 4D Theater Auditorium. This auditorium also assists us as we strive to foster stewardship for the environment and life on Earth through interactive nature films, special guest lectures and inspiring educational presentations. A Changing Exhibits Gallery provides ample space to feature visiting exhibits with the ability to change every 12-18 months. The flexibility of this gallery provides new, intriguing experiences for guests, making return visits to the aquarium fresh and exciting. Imagine, what may be in this space next time you come . . . art, science, animals? Classrooms equipped with scientific equipment and technology comprise the Education Center where hands-on, inquiry-based learning supports our on-site education programs for students from PreK through college. This center also expands our base of operations for our outreach education team as they bring resources, materials, investigations and live animals into classroom throughout the state in direct support of Utah Core Standards. Just about any group will find the multi-purpose Interactive Play Area ideal for their celebration or gathering. Private rooms provide the environment needed for your group’s planned events, while the spacious main interactive area allows for mingling, participating in large-scale activities and sparking creativity and imagination. The second level also houses administration offices, a boardroom, conference rooms, multipurpose work spaces and a staff break room. | page 5 ...to the bottom of the world... Journey to the icy edges of the Earth in our new 67,000 gallon Penguin Encounter Exhibit. Travel “under the ice” to see penguins rocket past you in the special underwater penguin viewing area. Penguin Encounter The Penguin Encounter Exhibit features two levels of viewing - above and below the surface - where you will get an up-close look at the birds swimming and socializing. Watch up to 20 birds, which may include several species of penguins including Gentoo, Rockhoppers and King, while your children explore in the Penguin Encounter Exhibit. | page 6 ...deep into the Abyss... Dive deep into an underwater abyss, where animals that rarely see the light of day exist. Climb inside an Interactive Undersea Submersible to view these unique creatures. Exciting interactive experiences lets visitors explore life in the depths from a hands-on perspective. Our new Deep Sea Exhibit features some unique fish, crabs and isopods, as well as other mysterious deep sea animals. | page 7 ...through the Amazon Rainforest... Travel along the Amazon River and up through the rainforest canopy in the three level Journey To South America Gallery, home to giant anacondas, fierce piranhas, colorful birds and toothy caimans. Our larger 27,800 gallon Amazon Giants Exhibit brings you up close to some of the world’s largest freshwater fish and tropical turtles. The Journey to South America is made possible by George W. Perkins Jr. The winding jungle path takes guests through dark caves and past bird-eating spiders and electric eels before climbing into the jungle treetops filled with bright, colorful birds like the macaw. Cross over the rope bridge, high above the gallery... if you dare! | page 8 ...into the wilds of Utah... Enter the Discover Utah Gallery through a 75-foot slot canyon, passing underneath flood-washed logs. Showcasing some of Utah’s threatened and endangered species, this gallery takes guests on a tour of the history of water in Utah, from ancient Lake Bonneville to present day Great Salt Lake. The North American River Otters Exhibit is made possible by The North American River Otters Exhibit has an expanded new exhibit where the otters can romp and frolic indoors and outdoors. The Discovery Utah Gallery will showcase the unique native species found throughout the waterways of Utah. You will see the Virgin River, Lake Powell, Green River, Bear Lake, Provo River, Utah Lake and other freshwater systems. | page 9 ...along a rocky coast... The sounds of crashing waves and crying gulls welcome you to the Rocky Coast - a series of exhibits about life at the edge of the ocean. At the new Rocky Shore Touch pool you can reach right in and connect with sea stars, sea urchins, anemones and other tidal creatures in this close-up, hands-on exploration of this complex ecosystem. The Rocky Coast is the first of four new sections in our expanded Ocean Explorer Gallery and features sea jellies, sea horses, leopard sharks and other small aquatic animals. | page 10
