Graduation is a time of tremendous change. The routine that has been
followed for twelve years will look completely different and it is almost
impossible to anticipate exactly what is yet to come. You are about to embark
on an incredible transformation from being a "high school kid" to an adult,
taking on the challenges and responsibilities that inevitably lie ahead. This is an
amazing time for you and it is my hope that you feel prepared and ready to
take flight.
This transformation you are about to experience reminds me of the life cycle of
a butterfly. Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with the beauty of
the butterfly. Butterflies go through four stages of development to reach
adulthood: the egg, caterpillar, pupa, and adult butterfly, kind of like people
do. We are born as infants, grow into young children, evolve into adolescence,
and then transform into adults. Each stage of our growth and development
brings new and exciting experiences and changes, as does each stage of the
cycle of the butterfly.
Butterflies are beautiful, as each one of you are. You are unique and special;
you are enough! You already have inside of you all that you need to thrive in
life. Cultivate your gifts and talents. Engage in personal and professional
growth and development to explore who you are and what gifts you bring to
this world. Butterflies are fragile, yet strong. They carry the power to change
the wind patterns. You are sensitive and strong; you are brave. Have the
courage to try, even when it is hard, and always give your best. Butterflies
decorate our gardens with their beauty and bring ioy to those who see them.
Be present and show up; show the world who you are - let people see the
beauty you are both inside and out.
It is my hope that your time at Barringer Arts positively contributed in some
small way to prepare you for the transformation you are about to experience.
Know we are very proud of you and you are now a special part of the Barringer
legacy. Much love and happiness and remember to always follow your heart,
as it will always lead you towards peace and optimal well-being.
