Looking out of our classroom windows , the atmosphere that surrounds Barringer created an ambiance that kept us coming back for another look. Now as an alum nus, every experience we have will always remind us of the cold icy winters and the warm demanding summers that enveloped our beloved school. . $l .. ~ #:. ~~ . ~· 2 . " Home to the ... Blue Bears! Aer relocating four times and surviving a change of the school name, from Newark High School to Barringer High School, 170 years later our school still continues to blossom and grow with each passing year. But Barringer wouldn't be everything it is today without the inspiring souls that once walked and inhabited these classrooms. Starting with Barringer's first principal, Nathan Hedges, every other faculty member, principal and student who took a breathe in Barringer's hallways supplied a memory that shaped our school. Each personality left behind a radiant and promising legacy to live up to, challenging others to achieve the next level. Because Barringer was the first public high school in New Jersey, we provid ed the gateway for everyone else to shine through. And being the third-oldest high school in the country, you can imagine that our legacy is well known and we serve as a Big Brother for all those who follow our paw prints. There's nothing more memorable than your four years of high- school. These years shape who you are in the future. Throughout these chaotic years you evolve into a unique individual who will impact the lives of many you will meet. For the most part, in high school you can even find or lose yourself, and what better place to grow than Barringer. As you flip through each page. .. reflect on how you developed into the person you have become. Ten years from now when you look at these pages again and your mind retraces your memory's paw prints again, you '11 be glad your four years spent in Barringer High. Nature hypnotizes us into always remembering where we came from. Whenever we think of Branch Brook Park we will recall our high school days.
