A reporter at a struggling, small city U.S. newspaper, Dave Armitage, meets with a potential source of information, a man named Raymond Reynolds who works for the local electric company. While expecting at most a minor news tip to result, he is present when Reynolds is assassinated in a professional killing. When the assassin starts eliminating all potential witnesses, Armitage realizes that his own life is in danger and he must unravel the mystery before he himself is killed.
