Translator's foreword 4 4 In the name of Allah, the Most-Compassionate, the Most-Merciful 1llANSl.Jl1 fHl 'S (?f)llE1'Tf)ll)) 1 Praise to Allah, Lord of the universe, Who has given us the reason and the knowledge and Who guides us on the right path. He urged us repeatedly, through several verses of the Qur'an, as in the surah Al ' Alaq and that of Al-Qalam. May Allah bless and praise our Prophet, our first teacher, Saydna Muhammad, his lineage and all his noble Companions. I did of my best to translate this book of Authentic Invocations and Supplications. Therefore I ask God to bring these efforts to the credit of the account of good actions, as well as the author's, the transmitters of the hadith, the person who took time to assemble these authentic invocations and supplications, and finally, the editor and myself, the translator. I take this opportunity to apologize to the dear readers, for errors that could interfere in printing, and not hold them against me. No one but Allah is perfect! Furthermore, I pray the dear readers to do their best to learn these authentic invocations and supplications in Arabic (in the language of origin where they have been said), because the Prophet (SAS) said: "Learn Arabic, as it is the language with which God speaks to you on the Day ofR esurrection." Saydna Umar lbn Al-khattab (RA) said: "Learn Arabic, because it is a language that stabilizes the reason and teaches morals." The translation was made to inform you on the meaning of these invocations, but it is better to make them in Arabic; And God is more learned than we are. Translator's foreword 5 5 We must address, with this translation, our sincere thanks to the editors of Dar al-kotob al-Ilmiyah for their work in the field of the dissemination of the authentic Islamic culture beyond the borders of language. In other words, we want to thank them for the opportunity to letting us take part in a work that only God is able to pay at its fair value. I finally praise our Lord for His benevolent assistance that has allowed me to finish this translation. May this work be a great benefit for all. The translator Caroline-Meriem Khelifa Introduction 6 6 In the name of Allah, the Most-compassionate, the Most-Merciful Praise to God. We beseech Him help and forgiveness, and seek His protection against our bad deeds and souls. Whomever God directs, no person can deviate him from the right path; and whomever God deviates, no one can direct him. I testify that there is of no other deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. {O you who believe! fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.} (Al-'Imran, 102) {O Mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single Person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; fear Allah, through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.} (An-Nisa, 1) {O you who believe! fear Allah, and (always) say a word directed to the Right: That He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: he that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has already attained the highest Achievement.} (Al Ahzab, 70 - 71) In good faith, we sought divine help, for the preparation of a book gathering invocations and supplications of the Hadith of the Prophet (SAS), which the Muslim cannot avoid in his daily life, his statements and actions, without exception. 7 6 ~i .).Jr- 4.J-4 .&~ ~yU.J O~.J 4'.•" ;.J 0~ .& .M.>J\ 01 " .J '-:? .:i LA ~ J-l..a-: :..r4 3 " .J j..,a_. ~ .& I o-4: :..r4 " L:J w i ..:..i ~ 3 o.,Y 1\} J 4 >--" 01s:. ~i.J ,.ij .!.l:~ "Y o.J....>. .J .&\ "Yl <LI ll "Y 01~ ~\.J~ . .J.,...... .).J JTl ~$ z,;.~ ·1 ~iJ ~l ~_;i ~; .,A~ ~ ~ ~I ~1~ &_JI t;:~9> .[102 :.JI~ "~ ~J.JI; ~-4-11 .:r-:=--i3 ".&1 ~~ ~..WI J..L.pi 0k9 : ~ Loi J J5.J J5.J J5.J ;.J')W ,;.JJW ~~ -~~ ~~ 4-Jl;~ .)y\rl Y..J • .J L:.l I J JL...;.J o..i~ .J yl ~i.J ~.J ~ .&~~\..ill :~.J ~ i..f •· ! Note: Dhikr in Arabic means invocation, plural Adhkdr. This word has two meanings: the first means: to invoke God, and the second: to remember God (the two acts are good). Among what we have read, we found that most of these invocations relate to some Hadith dha'if(weak)°). That is the case of daily, monthly or weekly invocations; and other invocations, long or short, are just a product of the imagination of some people and their view, which are distant from truth and reason and away from the tradition of the Prophet (SAS). In short, these are approvals by people who are remote from worship and not held on the right path. For these reasons, we decided to create this book, in the hope that it will give weight to our assets of good actions in the other world. Amen. We promised that the Hadith of the book would only be those classified as authentic, with God's help. Each Hadith will be marked in the margin of the page, and we will show its origin, its level of authenticity, if it is hassan (good) or not, exception made for the Hadith of Bukhary and Muslim. These will not be judged as the nation has favorably welcomed these two books. Reason why, no one doubts about their truth: our Nation is being protected against the common error (Al-Jjmda 'aid Al-khata ')(2) • For this book, we have used several books, especially those of Sheikh Albany (RHA). (1) Sheikh Nasser Ad-din Al-Albany reported in his research on the good word page (8): works that deal with this chapter "Bab al-Ka/am Attayib", all without exception have reported several weak Hadith without being stated by their authors. (2) Sheikh Al Islam Ibn Taymyya said in "Majmou 'ou Al-Fatawi Al-Koubrti" (part 8, page 74): among the works known like those of Bukhfuy and Muslim, there is no other book more authentic on Earth after the Qur'an than those of Bukhfuy and Muslim. °' r-- .~ ~ I I I " ~I ~ ~ .7' -j 'n . { -\ j 5 ~I t 1 J I 1) ~ ~ ") "L ~I I".
