DEVENISH, Communication Director, South Australian Conference IT REALLY DID HAPPEN, although I still find it hard to believe, but yes, it did happen. One morning, toward the end of June, the television set at our home was turned on so that we could view the news bulletin on the program "Good Morning, Australia. " During the first commercial break there was a promotion message by Pastor George Vandeman inviting viewers to join him for the "It Is Written" program on Sunday morning. Included in the next commercial break was a "Lend a Hand" message. Then later, after the news, there was an advertisement for Dial-a-Prayer. All three free and on the same program. Just a few Saturday nights ago a thirty-second promo- tional message for "It Is Written" was screened during the high rating "Parkinson in Australia" program. It was there he requested "Here's Life" and "Light of the World" Bible study guides, and was transferred to Berrima at his request. Leslie spends most of the day reading the Bible, which he has almost finished reading right through, and tells me his favourite books are Daniel and Revelation. He keeps mainly to himself, but recently another inmate who had been studying the Scriptures on his own, asked if he could join Leslie and Brother Don Fehlberg (Bowral's pastor), who regularly visits to study with Leslie.
