VanStone is Curator of North American Archaeology and Ethnology, and Chairman of the Department of Anthro¬ pology at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. He is also Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology, Northwestern University. Professor VanStone received his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania and has been affiliated with the University of Toronto and the University of Alaska. He is the author of nine books and monographs, fifty articles, and many book reviews in anthropological journals.
