Dear Reader,

WINGS IN THE NIGHT has become a tradition and, sort of, my signature
series. I’ve certainly come full circle with this series. Twilight Phantasies will
always be my first sale in my mind, even though I had to revise it before it was
contracted, and in the meantime sold a different title. The two books sold only a
month or so apart. And since Twilight Phantasies was the first one submitted, to
me it was the first sale. (Hard to believe that was over thirty books ago!) I wrote
a few more in the series, but then my heart was broken when Silhouette Shadows
was closed, and for a few months I thought it was the end of the vampire series.

But then I was elated again when I was asked to write another, as a Silhouette
Single Title. So elated that I hung up the phone and wrote a thirty-page outline
by the end of the day, then overnighted it to my editor. The manuscript followed
in eight weeks’ time. That book was Born in Twilight. There is some special well
of inspiration somewhere in the universe that feeds these vampire novels to me.
It’s not work to write them. I literally open a vein, if you’ll pardon the pun, and
they just pour themselves onto the page. I don’t know why, and I don’t know
how. I just know that I have to keep writing them. I am so, so extremely honored
that the next edition to this series, Twilight Hunger, will be released by MIRA. I
still can’t quite digest that I’m in the company of some of the biggest stars in the
writing world. It boggles my mind.

What’s really fun to note is that the big event that unfolds at the end of Born in
Twilight is one of the trigger events that sets off the drama in Twilight Hunger
(MIRA, March 2002.) So get ready to dig in.

And remember, don’t read in the dark!

DARK LOVER
I loved not the night but he drew me,
With dark whispers beckoned me near His shadows I thought would subdue me,
