This warranty does not apply to any products which have been repaired or altered by persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech, or which have been subject to misuse, abuse, accident or improper instal- lation. Advantech assumes no liability under the terms of this warranty as a consequence of such events. Because of Advantech(cid:146)s high quality-control standards and rigorous test- ing, most of our customers never need to use our repair service. If an Advantech product is defective, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge during the warranty period. For out-of-warranty repairs, you will be billed according to the cost of replacement materials, service time and freight. Please consult your dealer for more details. If you think you have a defective product, follow these steps: 1. Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For example, CPU speed, Advantech products used, other hardware and software used, etc.) Note anything abnormal and list any onscreen messages you get when the problem occurs. 2. Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your man- ual, product, and any helpful information readily available. 3. If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number from your dealer. This allows us to process your return more quickly. 4. Carefully pack the defective product, a fully-completed Repair and Replacement Order Card and a photocopy proof of purchase date (such as your sales receipt) in a shippable container. A product returned without proof of the purchase date is not eligible for war- ranty service. 5. Write the RMA number visibly on the outside of the package and ship it prepaid to your dealer. iii Declaration of Conformity CE This product has passed the CE test for environmental specifications when shielded cables are used for external wiring. We recommend the use of shielded cables. This kind of cable is available from Advantech. Please contact your local supplier for ordering information. FCC Class A This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interfer- ence when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his/her own expense. Please send all such - in writing to: [email protected] Safety Instructions 1. Please read these safety instructions carefully. 2. Please keep this User(cid:145)s Manual for later reference. 3. Please disconnect this equipment from AC outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth. Don(cid:145)t use liquid or sprayed detergent for cleaning. Use moisture sheet or clothe for cleaning. 4. For plugable equipment, the socket-outlet shall near the equipment and shall be easily accessible. v 5. Please keep this equipment from humidity. 6. Lay this equipment on a reliable surface when install. A drop or fall could cause injury. 7. Do not leave this equipment in an uncontrolled environment; storage temperatures above 60”C may damage the equipment. 8. The openings on the enclosure are for air convection hence protecting the equipment from overheating. DO NOT COVER THE OPENINGS. 9. Make sure the voltage of the power source when connecting the equip- ment to the power outlet. 10. Place the power cord such a way that people cannot step on it. Do not place anything over the power cord. The power cord must be rated for the product and for the voltage and current marked on the product(cid:146)s electrical ratings label. The voltage and current rating of the cord should be greater than the voltage and current rating marked on the product. 11. All cautions and warnings on the equipment should be noted. 12. If the equipment is not used for long time, disconnect the equipment from mains to avoid being damaged by transient over-voltage. 13. Never pour any liquid into ventilation openings; this could cause fire or electrical shock. 14. Never open the equipment. For safety reasons, only qualified service personnel should open the equipment. 15. If one of the following situations arise, get the equipment checked by service personnel: a. The Power cord or plug is damaged. b.Liquid has penetrated the equipment. c. The equipment has been exposed to moisture. d.The equipment has not worked well or you can not get it work according to user(cid:145)s manual. e. The equipment has been dropped and damaged. f. THERE IS A DANGER OF EXPLOSION IF THE BATTERY IS INCORRECTLY REPLACED. REPLACE ONLY WITH SAME OR EQUIVLENT TYPE RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURE. Bei der Aufstellung des Ger(cid:228)tes ist auf sicheren Stand zu achten. Ein Kippen oder Fallen k(cid:246)nnte Verletzungen hervorrufen. 7. Die Bel(cid:252)ftungs(cid:246)ffnungen dienen zur Luftzirkulation die das Ger(cid:228)t vor (cid:252)berhitzung sch(cid:252)tzt. Sorgen Sie daf(cid:252)r, daB diese (cid:214)ffnungen nicht abgedeckt werden. 8. Beachten Sie beim. AnschluB an das Stromnetz die AnschluBw- erte. 9. Verlegen Sie die NetzanschluBleitung so, daB niemand dar(cid:252)ber fallen kann. Es sollte auch nichts auf der Leitung abgestellt werden. 10. Alle Hinweise und Warnungen die sich am Ger(cid:228)ten befinden sind zu beachten. 11. Wird das Ger(cid:228)t (cid:252)ber einen l(cid:228)ngeren Zeitraum nicht benutzt, sollten Sie es vom Stromnetz trennen. Somit wird im Falle einer (cid:220)berspan- nung eine Besch(cid:228)digung vermieden. 12. Durch die L(cid:252)ftungs(cid:246)ffnungen d(cid:252)rfen niemals Gegenst(cid:228)nde oder Fl(cid:252)ssigkeiten in das Ger(cid:228)t gelangen. Dies k(cid:246)nnte einen Brand bzw. elektrischen Schlag ausl(cid:246)sen. vii 13. (cid:214)ffnen Sie niemals das Ger(cid:228)t. Das Ger(cid:228)t darf aus Gr(cid:252)nden der ele- ktrischen Sicherheit nur von authorisiertem Servicepersonal ge(cid:246)ff- net werden. 14. Wenn folgende Situationen auftreten ist das Ger(cid:228)t vom Stromnetz zu trennen und von einer qualifizierten Servicestelle zu (cid:252)berpr(cid:252)fen: (cid:150) Netzkabel oder Netzstecker sind besch(cid:228)digt. (cid:150) Fl(cid:252)ssigkeit ist in das Ger(cid:228)t eingedrungen. (cid:150) Das Ger(cid:228)t war Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt. (cid:150) Wenn das Ger(cid:228)t nicht der Bedienungsanleitung entsprechend funktioniert oder Sie mit Hilfe dieser Anleitung keine Verbesse- rung erzielen. (cid:150) Das Ger(cid:228)t ist gefallen und/oder das Geh(cid:228)use ist besch(cid:228)digt. (cid:150) Wenn das Ger(cid:228)t deutliche Anzeichen eines Defektes aufweist. 15. VOSICHT: Explisionsgefahr bei unsachgemaben Austausch der Batterie.Ersatz nur durch densellben order einem vom Hersteller empfohlene-mahnlichen Typ. Entsorgung gebrauchter Batterien navh Angaben des Herstellers. 16. ACHTUNG: Es besteht die Explosionsgefahr, falls die Batterie auf nicht fach-m(cid:228)nnische Weise gewechselt wird. Verfangen Sie die Batterie nur gleicher oder entsprechender Type, wie vom Hersteller empfohlen. Entsorgen Sie Batterien nach Anweisung des Herstell- ers. To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from your PC chassis before you work on it. Don’t touch any components on the CPU card or other cards while the PC is on. 2.
