When intelligenceandinformaticsarecombined,themostchallengingproblemsintherealms ofresearch, engineering, practical manufacturing, military,management, government, andindustrycanbesolved. The2ndInternationalConferenceonAppliedIntelligenceandInformatics(AII2022) provides a premier international forum to bring together researchers and practitioners fromdiversedomainsforthesharingofcutting-edgeresearchresultsobtainedthrough theapplicationofintelligenceand/orinformaticstosolveproblemsthatotherwisewould nothavebeenpossibletosolve.AII2022alsofosterstheexchangeanddisseminationof innovativeandpracticaldevelopmentofmethodologiesandtechnologieswithreal-life applications. TheconceptoftheAIIconferenceserieswasconceivedintheyear2021whenthe wholeworldwascombatingthevariouswavesandvariantsoftheCoronavirusdisease (COVID-19). During that extremely challenging time, everyone, especially scientists andresearchersfromalldisciplineswantedtocontributeintheirownwaystothiswar againstCOVID-19.Whencitiesandcountriesweregettinglockeddown,universitiesand researchlabswereevacuatedtostoptheaggressivespreadofthedisease,computational scientistsandresearcherscontributedsignificantlybydevelopingdifferentmethodsof detectinganddiagnosingthedisease,buildingmodelstostopitsspreadandfacilitating thedevelopmentofthevaccine.However,mostofthesemethodswhichweredeveloped and published to fight the pandemic remained proprietary and had limited access for others to reproduce the results. Realising this, a set of committed academics felt the needforadedicatedavenuetodiscussthe‘ReproducibilityofResearchResults’through sharingthemethodsandthedatasets.TheAIIconferenceserieswasbornwithakeen focus on the applications of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Informatics’ not only in the fieldofhealthcarebutalsoinallwalksoflife. AfterthefirsteditionofAIIwhichwasplannedtobeheldinNottingham,UKbut eventually took place virtually due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the second edition (AII2022)hasbeensuccessfullyheldatReggioCalabria,Italy.Ithasbroughttogether around100academics,scientists,researchers,andindustrialistsfromalmostallconti- nents.WiththewarmandgeneroushospitalityoftheMediterraneaUniversityofReggio Calabria(UNIRC),ReggioCalabria,Italy,theconferencewassupportedbytheUNIRC, theAppliedIntelligenceandInformatics(AII)laboratory,laSocietàItalianaRetiNeu- roniche(SIREN),theWebIntelligenceConsortium(WIC),theNottinghamTrentUni- versity(NTU),theInternationalNeuralNetworkSociety(INNS),andtheInternational AcademicCommunicationCentre(IRNet). vi Preface As usual, the theme of AII2022 was “Fostering the Reproducibility of Research Results.”Thegoalwastoseehowbestwecanpromoteopenmethodologicalcontribu- tionstoreproducethescientificresultspresentedintheliterature.TheAII2022addressed broad perspectives on applied research to facilitate the reproduction of results. These papers provide a good sample of state-of-the-art research advances on applications of artificialintelligenceandinformaticsindiversefieldsanddisciplines.Theselectedpapers coverfourmajortracks:(1)Track1:EmergingApplicationsofAIandInformatics,(2) Track2:ApplicationofAIandInformaticsinHealthcare,(3)Track3:ApplicationofAI andInformaticsinPatternRecognition,(4)Track4:ApplicationofAIandInformatics inNetwork,Security,andAnalytics. ThesefourtracksoftheAII2022conferenceattracted108submissionsfrom20coun- tries. The submitted papers underwent a single-blind review process, soliciting expert opinionsfromatleastthreeexperts:atleasttwoindependenttopicexpertsasreviewers andthehandlingtrackchair.Aftertherigorousreviewreportsfromthereviewersandthe trackchairs,therespectivepapersand,finally,38fullpaperswithauthorsrepresenting 17countries,wereacceptedforpresentationattheconference.Therefore,thisvolume oftheAII2022conferenceproceedingscontainsthose38paperswhichwerepresented attheconferenceinReggioCalabria,Italy.
