With our whole heart, we welcome you, speakers and participants from foreign countries and local industries and academia. We hope this conference will provide all the global family of industrial engineering professional with a meeting to share and exchange research interests and applications that are of interests to both researchers and practitioners. We are looking forward to discovering new ideas and insights through your valuable presentations and fruitful discussions and believe that a research on production management seems promising to contribute to industry, society, and individual for the following reasons: We are living in the era of a rapid transition in our lives, so called 4th industrial revolution. This revolution is swiftly approaching upon us in every sector of the industry. Key components of the 4th industrial revolution include big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and virtual and augmented reality. These components also give huge impacts on the manufacturing sector and research on production management. In this regard, we are confronting some issues related to smart production management for data-driven, intelligent, collaborative, and sustainable manufacturing and believe that this conference will provide solutions, guidelines, and insights to pave the way for future manufacturing systems. We would like to give our sincere gratitude to many experts from academia, industry, and research institutes from all over the world for exchanging ideas, concepts, theories, and experiences through Advances in Production Management Systems 2018 Conference in Seoul, Korea. We also thank you CEO Dr. Sang Woo Park and Professor Sungzoon Cho who will give a valuable keynote speech. Many thanks go to Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers, Seoul National University, Korea Land & Housing Corporation, Institute for Industrial Systems Innovation, The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Korea Tourism Organization, International Advisory Committee members, Organizing Committee members, and Program Committee members, too numerous to name all, for their support and participation.
