APAC is jointly supported by the Chinese Ocean Engineering Society (COES), theCoastalEngineeringCommittee oftheJapan SocietyofCivilEngineers(JSCE), and the Korean Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers (KSCOE). A wide range of orga- nizations from Asian and Pacific countries/regions are its active participants or sponsors. The10th InternationalConferenceonAsianandPacificCoasts(APAC2019)tobeheldat Thuyloi University, Hanoi, Vietnam. APAC 2019 Vietnam will extend the series of the biennialconferencethefirstonebeingheldinDalian,Chinain2001bythenameofAsianand PacificCoastalEngineering(APACE).Toreflectabroaderscope, theconferencewasrenamed toAsianandPacificCoasts(APAC)anditwassubsequentlyheldeverytwoyearsindifferent countriesandregionsincludingJapan(2004),Korea(2005),China(2007),Singapore(2009), Hongkong (2011), Indonesia (2013), India (2015), the Philippine (2017). These conferences have acted as a welcome forum to report and discuss the latest advancements in Coastal, Ocean and Port Engineering and as such, have always been highly valued by all participants. Undoubtedly, APAC2019 will provide an opportunity for making numerous personal and professional exchanges in Vietnam and overseas. The word “living with nature, coping with coastal changes” is the theme of APAC 2019, which covers ten specific subthemes: Ocean wave, tides, storm surge and tsunami; Beach erosion and coastal sediment transport; Coastal and estuarine hydrodynamics; Lowland development and recla- mation;Beachdevelopmentandcoastalprotection;Marineecologyandcoastalenvironments; Marine and offshore renewable energy; Climate change and coastal adaptation; Coastal haz- ards and risk assessment; and Mekong Delta, beach erosion and saltwater intrusion. Onbehalf oftheLocalOrganizingCommittee (LOC), sincere appreciationisexpressedto allsponsors:NAFOSTED, LONG THANH, FECON, LICOGI 16, AND SHENLIAN fortheir strongly supports. Sincerely thanks are sent to the international and local organizing com- mittee for their great contribution. Special thanks are also due to all keynote speakers and chairpersons for the efforts in preparing the manuscripts and managing the sessions, respec- tively, and authors for their heartful contributions to our conference. Without all of you, the conference will never be successful.
