It was only two months afterhe was elected to the Board ofSelectmen thathe was diagnosed with leukemia. Nevertheless, he courageously fought his battle with this deadly disease while fulfillingthe obligations he had undertaken when electedto office. While fightingforhis life he showed us alljust how much he really cared about his community. He had pretty much wonhis battle with leukemia when he developed cancer andlost that battle in the fall of1996. Pratt Auditorium in said Jaffrey on Tuesday, the 12th day ofMarch, 1996 at eight o'clock in the forenoon (polls close at 7:00 p.m.) to vote for the Town Officers and to act on other questions required by law to decided by official ballot. Pursuant to RSA 39:2a and the vote ofthe Town at the adjourned session ofTown Meeting on March 13, 1979 and the Town Meeting on March 13, 1993, the business portion ofthe meeting will be recessed until nine o'clock in the forenoon, Saturday, March 16, 1996 at which time the Town will act on all subjects described in the following Warrant Articles except those requiring action by Official Ballot: Art. 1 To choose the following Town Officers: (By Official Ballot) Selectman - Three year term - David Belletete Library Trustee - Three year term - Frederick S. Stewart Recessed until March 16th, 1996, at 9:00 a.m. The hour of9:00 a.m. having arrived, the Town Moderator, Marc P. Tieger, reconvened the Annual Town Meeting ofthe Town ofJaffrey. The Pledge ofAllegiance was led by Boy Scouts Tony Remillard, Jason Conway, and Jonathan Burt. After which the Mr. Tieger asked everyone to remain standing for a moment of reflection. Mr. Tieger then read a letter from the Chairman of the Jaffrey Town History, Volume IV Committee, Betty Shea. Mr. Tieger went over the rules ofthe meeting. He also mentioned that two non-residents had been recognized to speak, they were Recreation Department Director Caroll Carbonneau and Town Counsel Russ Hilliard. Mr. Tieger introduced the mike handlers: Nathan Oswalt and Andrew Cramb. The moderator then introduced the Board of Selectmen: David Belletete, Peter Davis, and Maureen Desmarais; Town Manager Jon Sistare; Town Clerk Maria Chamberlain; and Chairman
