REPORTS OF — — OFFICIALS DEPARTMENTS COMMITTEES OF THE TOWN OF DERRY NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR THE PERIOD JULY JUNE 1, 1997 to 30, 1998 Including Streets by Districts A EXEMPTIONS All persons desiringto apply for any exemptions must fill out a permanent application form (State Form PA29) with the Assessing Department, and Must be qualified as of April 1, in the year in which application is made. Further information may be obtained fi-om the Assessing Department, 48 East Broadway, 432-6104 and/orthe reverse ofyourtaxbill. UNIFORMADJUSTED ELDERLY EXEMPTION 1) A person has to have been a resident of the State of New Hampshire for at least five (5) years preceeding April 1st. 2) Must have a net income from all sources, no greater than $25,500 for a single person and no greater than $32,400 ifmarried. 3) Owns assets ofany kind, tangible or intangible, less . bonafide encumbrances, and further, excluding the value ofhis/her residence, no greater than $100,000. 4) is at least 65 years old on or before April 1st; and 5) must not have received transfer ofthe property from abloodrelation, orperson relatedby marriage, within (5)yearspriortodate ofapplication (April 1). An exemption of$60,000 for residents 65 years ofage up to 74, $75,000 fi-om 75 years ofage up to 79, and $100,000from 80years ofage and older is appliedtothe assessedvalue ofthe property. EXEMPTION FOR THE BLIND Pursuant to RSA 72 those persons considered legally blind as determined by the Administrator ofBlind Services of the Vocational Rehabilitation Division of the Education Department may apply for the exemption for the blind. Amount is $15,000 deducted from the assessed value. You must produce a letter fi^om the above agencywhen you apply. VETERANS CREDIT 1)Theveteran mustbe a resident ofthe State ofNewHampshire for at least one (1) year previous to april 1stoftheyear in which the credit is appliedfor, 2) has to have served not less than ninety (90) days in the Armed Forces of the United States in a war or conflict as outlined in RSA 72:28; 3) must have been honorably discharged. A credit in the amount of$100.00 is applied to the amount oftax due. A credit of $1,400 is also available to the Veteran if he/she is 100% permanently disabled a a result of a service connected injury. (Applies also to unremarried widows of disabled veterans). A copy of the DD214 or discharge paper is requiredwhen applying CURRENT USE In order to encourage appreciation for the environment, conserve land and other resources, and to maintain open space, the State ofNew Hampshire 'provides' for placmg land in Current Use status where it is taxed at a lower rate. Many restrictions apply, including a 10 acre minimum. If you desire to investigate fiirther, you may inquire at the Assessing Department (432-6104) or refer to RSA 79- (amended), application must be made on or before April 15 in the year application is made. There is a contingent lien placed on the property, recorded at the Rockingham County Registry ofDeeds, in favor of theTown. MANUFACTURED HOUSING Whenever a person moves manufactured housing into a city or town for the purpose of residing in the Town, or whenever a person purchases an existing manufactured unit, he shall, within fifteen (15) days, registerwith the AssessingDepartment oftheTown. (RSA 72;7-b, amended). Also, you must report tothe Town when you intend to move a manufactured home fi-om the lot and/or town and pay the tax in Jeopardyofthe move (RSA 76:10-a). GIFTS TO CONSERVATION COMMISSION Underthe provisions ofRSA 36-A;4, Conservation Commission may receivegiftds ofmoney andproperty real andpersonal, in the name ofthe city or town, subject to approval ofthe Town Council. Such gifts are to be managed and contained by the Commission for the purpose for which intended. Further inquiries maybe made totheTown Administrators OfBce at48 East Broadway, 432-6100 or432-6101.
