Town Brentwood of Annual Town and School District Reports For the year Ending December 31, 2000 p ' D e d i cat i o n Theresaand Edward Sherry moved to Brentwood in 1978. What benefits they have brought to our town in the twenty-three years they have been here! After settlingin for a while, they became active in the Brentwood Historical Society. When the raffles (for which Ed often made beautiful wooden articles) were held with the food sales on anyelection day, Ed and Terry were always helping. Openingthe doors ofthe Historical Museum needed alot ofhard work, and they were right there helpingwith the general repair andbuildingcases tohold the museum pieces. For a time Terry was the society's President. Edwasone ofthe keyhelpersin rebuildingthe Recreation Center when the shell was completedand the roofwasput on the building. Terrywas electeda Supervisor ofthe Checklistin 1990, one ofthree, and she holds that position to this day. Also in 1990, she became Vice President ofthe Brentwood LadiesAuxiliary ofthe Fire Department. The Auxiliary, withitsmanyundertakings, required asignificant commitmentoftime and energy; Terrywasalwaysequal to the tasks. She hashelped with the mealsserved to town officials on Election Day, and everyone says she makes a "wickedgood" desert. Members ofRockingham County Law Enforcement are luckyenoughtohave the Auxiliary serve them once ayear, andTerryhas always been an importanthelper. For the annual Penny Sale which the Auxiliary holds in the fall, hours and hours ofpreparationare required. Terry is always one ofthe crew, workingall day andinto the evening. On top ofitall, we mustnotforget the annual 4 ofJulyparade, when Auxiliarymembers ride on the small truckandhand outcandy to the kids. Electedin 1993, Terry served two 3-year terms as aTrustee ofthe Mary E. Bartlett Memorial Library. Startingin 1988, Ed served onthe Municipal Budget Committee, and until lastyear was an important contributor toits deliberations. In 1991 he became amember ofthe BrentwoodIndustrial Development Committee, andin recentvears has been its chief. He wasalso a member ofthe Highway Maintenance Advisory Committee, whose equipmentrecommendations have saved Brentwood a greatdeal ofmoneyover the pastcouple ofyears. Again, as a member ofthe Municipal Buildings Advisory Committee (and its Chairman from May of 1998 until June of 1999), Ed made important contributions to both the new Highway Garage Complex (includingsome hard physical labor) and the Town Office expansion now under way. BothTerry and Edhave been active members ofthe Brentwood Seniors, and Edhas served as Treasurer. They are proud parents ofthree children, nowadults, who all live outside New Hampshire: one in Massachusetts, one in Vermont andone in Colorado. While bothhave and have had significanthealthchallenges, their interestin, and desire to be helpful to Brentwood hasnever diminished. That theyfell in love with the town thev movedto is obvious. Brentwoodhonors Terryand Ed Sherryhere and gives thanks toboth for thehard work, the longhours and the selfless contributions. May they have manyhappy years in our town for which they have done so much. Jo Tuck ..
