Italsobecamethefirstpost-officein1843. By1849, there were two firms, one selling drugs, medicines, books and stationery; and the other, English and West India goods, flour, butter, cheese, etc. Succeeding owners were Austin Kimball, GeorgeDudley, Foote& Gage andFoote& Morse. The SanbornBrothers operated thestorefrom 1891 to 1910. G.D. Brockway, Robert K. Jones, Jackman and Son and A.H. Hibbard were operators until 1941. George "Vic" Flint was the owner/operator from then until November 1953 when Daniel and Bridget Carey, movingherefrom Brooklyn, NYpurchased thestore.
