A Fairhaven Tribute to
the Veterans ofthe Persian GulfWar
DuringtheperiodofAugust2, 1990toFebruary28,1991,Fairhavenmenandwomenwere
calledupontodefendthecauseof"liberty"infarawayKuwait. TheAlliedforcesprevailed
against Iraqi occupation and returned to the Kuwait people their precious freedom. The
yellowribbonscomedowninFairhavenandacrossournationtosignalthesafereturnofour
sons and daughters. On June 29, 1991, a Veterans Homecoming honored and welcomed
home37menandwomenwhoservedtheirnationandcommunity inthePersianGulfWar.
Weknowhowgreatadebtisowedtothesoldierswhostoodtallinthedesert,butalsotothose
who fought in Asian jungles and European forests in other wars. They have risked
everything,notforwarbutforpeaceand freedom. Weplaceourhandsoverourheartsand
salute them.
