Lovell has also heldthepositionofSilsby LibraryTrusteefor 15 years. His interests outsidethe publicsectorincludemembershipinthe Masons forabout40 years andTrustee andHonorary Memberofthe Springfield Hospital. In 1996, Lovell was honored with the "Service Above Self award by the Charlestown Rotary, ofwhich he was achartermember. As a businessman and owner, with his wife Charlene, of "Sunnyfields" Greenliouse since 1927, Lovell donates countlessplants andflowers to church bazaars, holidaytables at Senior Meals andamultitude oftown ftmctions. For over 50 years, he has planted the old watering trough in fi^ont ofthe Silsby Libraryas a giftto the town. Lovell enjoysimpartingsnatchesofhistoricaldata,longforgottenbymany inthe community, and can always be counted on to leaveyou smiling, whetherhe is deliveringone his splendid geraniums orone ofhis equally colorftiljokes.
