A STRATEGIC SECTOR Andalusia has a huge potential of natural resources and great biological, geological and landscape diversity. Considered one of the richest and best preserved regions in Europe. Mining is a strategic sector for development and economic growth. Mining in the region has created more than 5,000 direct jobs and 36,000 indirect jobs. The exploitation of the potential of mineral resources must be: rational, efficient and united to environmental conservation. Mining Industry INTERNATIONAL HERITAGE AND RENOWN More than 6,000 years of mining history. Even back in the fourth millennium B.C. there is record of the extraction of copper and other metal mining. One of the first milestones for Andalusian mining is recorded during Roman times with the introduction of the first mining law: LexMetalli.
