Eachstudywasreviewedtoidentify(1)datacollectiontechniquesused,(2) purportedmeasuresofthetechniques,(3)waysinwhichthetechniqueswereadministered,and(4)discussionsofvalidityissuesarisingfromthe useofthetechniques. Findingsindicatethatinformationsystemsresearchershaveadopteddatacollectiontechniquescommonlyusedbysocialscientists;however, theylargelyignoreorareunawareofassociatedvalidityissues. Overhalfofthestudiesinvolvedquestionnairesandfewerthanaquarter addressedvalidityissues.
