If, during the course of the meeting covered by this Notice, the Board of Trustees should determine that a
closed or executive meeting or session of the Board of Trustees is required, then such closed or executive meeting or
session as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section 551.001 et seq., will be
held by the School Board at the date, hour, and place given in this Notice or as soon after the commencement of the
meeting or session concerning any and all purposes permitted by the Act, including, but not limited to the following
sections and purposes:

Texas Government Code Section:

551.071 Private consultation with the board’s attorney.
551.072 Discussing purchase, exchange, lease, or value of real property.
551.073 Discussing negotiated contracts for prospective gifts or donations.
551.074 Discussing personnel or to hear complaints against personnel.
551.075 To confer with employees of the school district to receive information or to ask
questions.
551.076 Considering the deployment, specific occasions for, or implementation of, security
personnel or devices.
551.082 Considering the discipline of a public school child, or complaint or charge against
personnel.
551.083 Considering the standards, guidelines, terms, or conditions the board will follow, or will
instruct its representatives to follow, in consultation with representatives of employee
groups.
551.084 Excluding witnesses from a hearing.

Should any final action, final decision, or final vote be required in the opinion of the School Board with
regard to any matter considered in such closed or executive meeting or session, then the final action, final decision,
or final vote shall be either:

(a) In the open meeting covered by the Notice upon the reconvening of the public meeting; or
(b) at a subsequent public meeting of the School Board upon notice thereof; as the School Board shall
determine.

Rationale On April 14, 2015, the Board of Trustees voted to approve the
Certification of Unopposed Candidates and adopt the Order of
Cancellation of the May 9, 2015 Board of Trustee election as
each candidate was unopposed.

Even though no election was held, the candidates who were
declared “elected” had to follow the protocol of the election
calendar, just as if an election had been held, and could not be
sworn in until after the last day of the canvassing period (May
20, 2015).

Having compiled with all legal and district requirements for
filing, Municipal Judge, Bill Pannell, will now administer the
Oath of Office to the new trustees:

Julie Pickren Position 1
Regan Metoyer Position 2
Cheryl Harris Position 3

Budget Implications None

Recommendation or Before entering upon the duties of the office, the newly
Proposed Motion elected Trustees shall take the Oath of Office and shall file it
with the Board President.

Attachments Board Policy BDAA (LOCAL & LEGAL)

Rationale Board Policy BDAA (LOCAL & LEGAL) specifies requirements
and duties for Board Officers and the procedure for election.

It will be in order to elect a Board President, Vice-President, and
Secretary for the 2015-2016 term and obtain authorization to
continue use of the current officer signature plate until a new
one can be secured.

Budget Implications None

Recommendation or That an election of officers be held and that authorization be
Proposed Motion granted for continued use of the current officer signature plate
until a new one is secured.
