Irs more than a simple yes or no question. It may be directed to a singular person or a collective group. It can be one of the vaguest yet most commonly asked of all questions. Were you there? Althoff has been shaped not only by those hands that constructed it, but by everyone who has entered through the doors and walked through the T-shaped halls of the school. For 180 days out of the year, 651 students and 64 faculty members went about their dally routines, which encompassed the ordinary, the unordinary, and the extraordinary. You know- religion class, an occasional fire drill, the big game. You've been there. Or have you? Where were you when all of these ordinary, unordinary, and extraordinary things hap pened? Sure, maybe you heard about it, or you knew someone who knew someone's cousin who has heard about it. But were you there? What did you make of this year of high school? Was it your first, your last, or were you stuck in the m1ddle? More importantly, how will you remember it? What happened this past year, and how did it affect your school, your classmates, and you? This is life. This is high school. This is Althoff. Embrace it and hold tight to the memo ries of the 2004-2005 school year. Teens may be students as a forced occupation, but along with academics, sports, and clubs, teenag ers gladly embrace another area of their existence: their social life. This part of life may be the students' favorite. Were you at the Kick Off BBQ or the homecoming football game or Christmas Ball? How about the big parties or little shindigs? Students make the best of their after school, weekend, and va cation time to do the things they want to do. They laugh, they cry, they wear regular clothes (not uniforms), and sometimes they make complete idiots of themselves. These experiences seem to be a central part of high school. They make mistakes; they learn ... irs all a part of life, a learning process. Who ever said that you had to be inside a building to learn? This social part of life usually ends up being a heck of a lot of fun. Did you miss out on something fun because you were out of town, were you grounded, were you fash ionably late ... but most importantly- were you there? student life 5 Ha:nq:in..
