Introduction 2.1 Product Description Alcatel 1356DCN provides the operators/users the capability to monitor and maintain the DCN network in a non-intrusive way. It can provide the users with OSI & OSPF network topology, OSI &OSPF network event management and OSI &OSPF traffic statistics, etc. It allows the network operator to be aco 2owp.2nea drraiSetti yooosrnf t saeO, mgSprIe aA&rpfr ohOcrihmcS iPattoFenp ccnoteeul otdrwgeaoit carak lia nrsge wp prerelols beanlse tmoaftsi ot,h nme oiasfbc ttehuheaa lO vsitSoaIu tu&rss , O ambSiPosFcu otD nthCfiegN un rneaetwttiwoonorksr,k, .pe vroevnitd ing d. Edition 01 IP 1356DCN R2.0 User Handbook IT: 01 TND, ACCS, R&D 3AL 72302 ACAA TQZZA Page 8 of 112 The Analyzer part works in a way just like a network sniffer. It receives and processes all the frames flowing on the Ethernet Trunk where Analyzer station is attached. When connected by the Collector, it will send all the information regarding the underlying network to the Collector on demand. It also sends alarm/event messages automatically to the Collector if the Analyzer detects something abnormal in the network. The Collector part collects all the information from each Analyzer it connected and then merges all the information it gets into a global view of the network. It is also the Collector part that detects the topology change with regarding to the reference topology adopted by the operator and generates the topology related alarms. Also it is the Collector part that provides an interface for the upper GUI part to retrieve necessary information for display. The GUI part is the user interface that the system provides to the operator. The operator can get the system facilities from a graphical interface. 2.3 Applicability This specification is applicable to the Alcatel 1356DCN product, which includes the Analyzer, the Collector and the GUI. 3.
