Alberta Provincial Electoral Division Profile TREASURY /Liberia -I Government of Alberta 1996 All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise without prior written permission from Alberta Treasury, Statistics. November 1996 ISBN 0-7732-5429-3 Introduction This report presents a statistical profile for one of Alberta's Provincial Electoral Divisions (PED) supplemented by a comparative summary table for all PEDs. A PED is a t erritorial unit entitled to return a Member to serve in the Alberta Provincial Legislative Assembly. Based on the 1996 boundaries, there are currently 83 PEDs in the Province of Alberta. All data in this report have been tabulated from information collected by Statistics Canada during the 1991 Census of Canada. The information featured was gathered from a 20% sample of households, and includes characteristics such as home language, ethnic origin, place of birth, education, religion, labour force activity, housing costs, and income. For the purpose of this report, the assignment of population is based on the geographic allocation of Statistics Canada enumeration areas to PEDs. For information on the basic demographic characteristics of PEDs, please refer to the 2 A PED profile series covering all households (100% sample data) which was produced in April of 1993. Characteristics covered include population, marital status, families, households, dwellings and mother tongue. On some Indian reserves and Indian settlements in the 1991 Census, enumeration was not permitted or was interrupted before it c ould be completed. Data are therefore not available for the incompletely enumerated reserves and settlements, and are not included in the profiles. Four PEDs are affected: Bonnyville, Lac La Biche-St. Paul, Lesser Slave Lake and Ponoka-Rimbey. Users are advised to refer to the appendices for fiirther information regarding data quality, definitions and the electoral map.
