al-Ġanīhaverecentlypublishedaneditionofthewholework;however,asIdis-
cussbelow(section5),aneweditionof thewholebookisstillnecessaryand

ThepresentworkispartoftheBibliothecaMaqrizianaserieseditedbyFré-

/fifteenth-century Egyptian author al-Maqrīzī, based primarily on holograph
