Page v About the Authors Rankin Harvey A travel writer and photographer, Rankin is an avid sports and outdoor enthusiast. He is a PSIA-certified ski instructor at Ruidoso's Ski Apache and is a trained rock climbing instructor. His photography has appeared in magazines and newspapers ranging from Trailer Life to the Los Angeles Times. Dave G. Houser One of America's most widely published travel journalists, Dave G. Houser's work appears regularly in dozens of leading magazines, newspapers and books. In 1985, he was named runner-up for the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award and in 1992 received the Pacific Area Travel Association's Grand Award for ''best travel story with an article on Baja." That same year, he won a Lowell Thomas award for "best self-illustrated article." Dave has travelled to more than 125 countries and specializes in offbeat/adventure, cruise, and luxury travel. He is co-author of two other guidebooks: Hidden Coast of California and Hidden Mexico. To market photos from their far- flung adventures, Dave and his wife Jan manage their own stock photo agency based in New Mexico, presently listing almost 300,000 images. Steve Cohen Steve is author of more than a dozen travel books, including the outdoor classic, Adevnture Guide to Jamaica, first published in 1988 and now in its third edition. An adventure-seeking travel writer and photographer specializing in the unusual and offbeat, his self- illustrated articles appear regularly in America's largest newspapers and magazines. While reporting on life and cultures around the world, he has lived in the High Southwest for the last decade with his wife Jodie and his son Sean. He is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers.
