A note about Greek Mythology
Accidental Quarantine was loosely based on the Hades Persephone myth. Hades has always been my favorite of the Greek Gods. He was overlooked, socially awkward, and disliked by his family because he had a crappy job no one else wanted to do. But the thing about Hades was out of all the dysfunctional relationships in Greek Mythology, he truly loved his wife.
I don’t know about you, but that made my little heart swoon.
When writing Accidental Quarantine, I needed to make a few tweaks to the cannon to make the story work. Before you come at me, I am aware of a few changes.
Hades is not the youngest of the first generation of Olympians- it’s Zeus. I know. But to make the story work, Hadeon had to be the youngest.
Zeus and Hades seem to be closer than Poseidon and Hades. But again, for the story, I liked the contrast between Zack and Hadeon.
Hermes is also not in the first generation of Olympians, again for plot reasons, I made the changes.
All changes were made to benefit the story, not because I didn’t research.
Why am I saying this? Because if I were reading this novel, I would adjust my glasses and think, “Um that’s not right, and neither is that.”
Did I write a book that would drive me nuts as a reader? Yes, yes, I did.
My deepest apologies.
