Collegeof LifeSciences, HebeiUniversity, Baoding, Hebei(cid:1) 071002, China Abstract(cid:1) Belisana tongle sp. nov., a new species of the genus Belisana is described and illustrated froma cave in Leye County, Guangxi, Southern China. Key words(cid:1) Araneae, Phocidae, Belisana, new species, troglophilous, China. (cid:1) (cid:1) Pholcids, small to medium(cid:1)sized, ecribellate, Belisana tongle sp. nov. (Figs(cid:2)1(cid:1)5) haplogyne; usually with eight or six eyes, rarely with Diagnosis. The new species is similar to Belisana two, cave species often blind ( Huber, 2000); zhangi Tong&Li, 2007, butcan be distinguished bytwo comprising mostly tropical spiders, have attracted much big triangular marks on carapace and some large gray less attention than some of their cousins like orbweavers, irregular spots on opisthosoma of males ( Figs(cid:2)1(cid:1)2), jumping spiders, wolf spiders, or cobweb spiders while B. zhangi carapace with yellow radial striae on (Huber, 2005). The family has an almost worldwide posterior half, opisthosoma without any spots ( Tong & distribution. Pholcids occupy a wide range of ecosystems Li, 2007) ; and by the shapes of bulbal projections and habitats, many species have been found in caves, (Fig(cid:2)3) , with broad embolus tip and procursus (Figs(cid:2)4(cid:1) and someofthesearehighly troglomorphic, includingthe 5), with longdistally spine. total loss of eyes, a large part of pholcid diversity in dry Male.
