ThegenusMalthineliuscomprisessevenspeciesknownfromEastandSoutheast Asia, three
ofwhichhavebeenknowntooccurinJapan(TAKAHAsHI&N.TAKAHAsHI,2007). Asregards
theJapanesespeciesofthegenus,MafthlneffusczlJo1andM masata a1are foundon theislands
ofthemiddleRyukyus,andM bicolorisdistributedinKoreaandthemainlandofJapanexcept
for Hokkaido. I wasabletoexamine thematerialof thelatter from YakuIslandlyingin the
northernRyukyus; thecollectingdataaregivenbelowasanewdistributional recordfrom the
island.

Tablet. Of theninespecieslistedherein,onlytwo,Macrohabronychus(1fabronychus)miyatake1
andMalthodesyakztshimanusyakushimanus,areendemictotheisland,andtheothersevenare
distributedintheJapanesemainlandwiththeirsouthernmostdistributionalendat YakuIsland.
