She has contributed to a number of publications on social security provision for disabled people and on the costs of disablement in children, and until recently was joint editor of the Yearbook of Social Policy. Janet Finch is a lecturer in social policy at the University of Lancaster. Her current research interests are in marriage and family policy, with a focus on gender divisions. Recent publications include work on wives' incorporation in men's work, voluntary playgroups as preschool provision, education as social policy and (with Dulcie Groves) women and com- munity care. Caroline Glendinning is a Research Fellow in the Social Policy Research Unit at the University of York. She has undertaken research on the family consequences of severe disablement in children; on the impact of specialist social work services for children with disablement and their families; and on discrimination against married women with disabilities. She has written and contributed to publications on the non- contributory invalidity pension for married women; on the take-up of welfare benefits; and on families with disabled children.
