A HISTORY OF THE ATHONITE COMMONWEALTH ThisbookexaminesthepartplayedbymonksofMountAthosinthe diffusionofOrthodoxmonasticismthroughoutEasternEuropeand beyond.Itfocusesonthelivesofoutstandingholymeninthehistory ofOrthodoxywhohavebeendrawntotheMountain,haveabsorbed the spirit of its wisdom and its prayer, and have returned to the outside world, inspired to spread the results of their labours and learning.
