Date.. hg& ZZs......... / Adviser i Dean INTRODUCTION The W estchester Elementary School is a rapidly growing school in a rapidly growing city , Los Angeles, As the School D istric t has increased its personnel, serv­ ices, and resources to meet the needs of a progressive community, the classroom teacher has been deluged with instructions and manuals. A beginning teacher is confront­ ed with a mass of lite ra tu re as well as the individual school resources to understand before she can be of a v ita l part of the school program. This handbook is w ritten for the teachers of West­ chester Elementary School so that they may quickly use the resources of the School Music Department and th e ir own school, in the teaching of music. Further suggestions for the application of these plans may he found in the In stru ctio n al Guide for Teachers of Elementary Schools.^ The Source-Book of M aterials fo r Elementary Schools^ w ill furnish a short lis t of audio-visual aid s. However, these are incorporated in the l i s t in Chapter VI of th is project.
