Description: Will Morvoren and Uxio discover a killer or a vengeful ghost?
With the approach of the Samhain festival to honour the dead, the captain of a merchant ship tells Morvoren an eerie tale of a voyage plagued by misfortune, illness and death, wanting her, as Dumnonia's priestess, to help rid him of its source. The captain is sure that the two deaths are from natural causes, since no one could have got to the second man, whose body was found blocking the door to his cabin. Despite this, the Christian deacon, Uxio, believes the problems are the result of a murderer onboard.
Circumstances and their different personalities cause Uxio and Morvoren to quarrel yet again over how to find out the truth, so they make a wager to investigate the mystery separately. Each one will try to be the first to discover how two people on the ship died.
There seems to be no link between the dead men and no way for them to have been murdered, but both had their enemies. As Morvoren and Uxio struggle to make sense of the mystery, what fresh troubles will they face? They are both determined to best the other, but will a killer outwit them both?
This is the second novel in this exciting historical mystery series set in the Celtic Dumnonii tribe in England in the Dark Ages, a time of turmoil with conflicting beliefs and cultures.
