ThereissuperbMichelangelesquedetailintheheroicmusculaturehere,butit isthepose,notthedetail,thatletsusinferaspecificbehavioral/emotionalstate: meditative study. And even the pedestal on which the creation sits conveys a metaphor for our science, sculpted as it is to project the Thinker off the edge of the secure toward the unknown.
