Instead, they were presented that same month at the virtual annual conference of the Modern Language Association in a roundtable bearing the title “Isabel la Católica: A Reassessment of Her Life and Legacy.” This project was supported by the Department of Hispanic Studies and the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research at Texas A&M University. Thanks are due to my indefatigable research assistant Carolyn Biery for compiling the bibliography and part of the index; to our series editor Christopher Bellitto; and to the two anonymous peer reviewers for evaluating the manuscript. A big “thank you” also to the ever- resourceful Ivo Romein for always finding the perfect cover images for my books; to Dr. Angela Jianu for copy editing that is nothing short of clairvoyant; and to Arjan van Dijk for din- ner in Dublin.
