MEDICARE SPECIALREIMBURSEMENTRULE FOR 2 PRIMARYCARECOMBINEDRESIDENCYPRO- 3 GRAMS. 4 (a) InGeneral.—Section 1886(h)(5)(G) oftheSo- 5 cialSecurityAct(42U.S.C. 1395ww(h)(5)(G))isamend- 6 ed— 7 (1) inclause (i),bystriking"and (iii)" andin- 8 serting (iii), and(iv)"; and 9 (2)byaddingattheendthefollowing: 10 "(iv) Special rule for primary 11 CARE COMBINEDRESIDENCYPROGRAMS. 12 (I) In the case ofa resident enrolled in a 13 combined medical residency training pro- 14 gram in which all of the individual pro- 15 grams (thatarecombined) arefortraining 16 aprimarycareresident (asdefinedinsub- 17 paragraph (H)), the period ofboard eligi- 18 bility shall be the minimum number of 19 yearsofformaltrainingrequiredto satisfy 20 therequirementsforinitialboardeligibility 21 in the longest of the individual programs 22 plusoneadditionalyear. 23 "(II) A resident enrolled in a com- 24 bined medical residency training program 25 that includes an obstetrics and gynecology 26 program qualifies for the period of board •HR4271IH cU^iIr.ikIHouse//Of^ Gaj^ix\2A SW*<m/mg 3 1 eligibility under subclause (I) ifthe other 2 programssuchresidentcombineswithsuch 3 obstetrics and gynecologyprogram are for 4 trainingaprimarycareresident.". — 5 (b) Effective Date.
