E Unum Pluribus (Psalm 11:1-7)

1. Look at a coin. There is likely a phrase on it: “E Pluribus Unum.” It means “out of many, one.” 
Why do you think that phrase applies to our country? 
2. Do you believe that our nation is unified or divided? Why?

3. Read Psalm 11:1-7 or access Pastor David’s message at ​broadviewchurch.com/media​. 
4. The most significant sign of God’s wrath being poured out on a nation is that wisdom is 
removed from both the people and their leaders. In what way do America’s people and leaders 
act foolish? 
5. In 1962, when the U.S. Supreme Court removed prayer from public schools, what message do 
you believe that sent to God? 
6. In 1973, when the Supreme Court allowed abortion on demand throughout the country, 
what did that say about its view of human life? 
7. In 2013, when the Supreme Court mandated that all 50 states recognize same-sex “marriage,” 
what did that say about its view of marriage as God created it (only between a man and a 
woman)? 
8. When a nation refuses to acknowledge God, kills humans who are made in his image, and 
rejects the institution of marriage that he created, is it a surprise that God would seek to restore 
his created order, regardless of how painful it is to that nation? 
Bringing It Home 
9. When we see our nation becoming more fragmented, we should make sure we are on the 
Lord’s side. What do you believe we should pray for?
