The fact that this edition of The Tower, representing the school's 164th year, reflects a remarkable feat and it also notes the need to account for our desire to capture moments of our human journey. Here at St. Michael's this journey is not only important to the graduates, but also to the school itself. The Tower marks one of the ways that St. Michael's College School attempts to pay respects to its students and to never forget them in our thoughts and prayers. I would like to congratulate the yearbook staff for an excellent job of capturing the memories of this school year through the following photographs. It seems a daunting task to be responsible for capturing the highlights of the school year, but this collection does St. Michael's College School justice. It reflects the well-roundedness of our school programmes and clearly illustrates the Basilian philosophy of a strong academic programme and a wonderfully vibrant co-curricular life. Each edition of The Tower also reminds us that a wonderful group of young men are leaving us and a new set of faces will find themselves on the pages of next year's yearbook. This graduating class has left a very positive mark on the school and our graduates have been role models in every sense of the word. Like the different sections of the yearbook, these graduates now turn the page and find a new chapter of their lives to embark upon. Like the graduates before them, these young men will represent St. Michael's College School to the rest of the world and what it means to be a "St. Michael's Man". Though they leave our yellow bricks with their families, they are not forgotten but remembered daily through prayer, memories and these photographs. Sincerely, T. Sheridan Best of luck in the future, Liam Mather 4 004-005 80510-1.indd 4 10/7/2013 6:34:18 AM A Message from your Student Government President To the St. Michaels Community, As I flip through the pages of the 2012/13 edition of The Tower, I see many familiar faces: Basilian Fathers, administrators, teachers and classmates. These are the people who make St. Michael's special, and their legacies are appropriately encapsulated within these pages. If I've learned one thing in the past six years, it's this: the St. Michael's community is one that brings out the best in each of its members. It is a tight-knit community of artists, scholars, athletes, musicians, debaters; as many like to say, it is truly a community of brothers. Treasure this yearbook. It captures our diverse community and our accomplishments in a memorable way. On behalf of this year's Student Government, thank you to the student body for supporting our initiatives. Without your participation, the food drives, fundraisers, and spirit days would not have been successful. As a community, we raised thousands of dollars for a number charitable causes throughout the year. We organized a semi-formal, held two pep rallies, and introduced a new mascot, Hoikety. It has been a pleasure working on the Student Government, and it is our hope that you enjoyed the year as much as we did. The 2012/13 school year has been a fantastic one. I will miss dearly St. Mike's and the people who make it special. Thankfully, I will always have the The Tower to remind of the experiences I had and the great group of guys who I shared them with.
