LEIDE GRAND FIRST PRINCIPAL, GRAND CHAPTER OF ROYAL ARCH MASONS OF QUEBEC 2012-2013 M.Ex.Comp. John E. Leide was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota November 1, 1943. The Lewis of Edgar P. Leide, Frontier Lodge No. 45, Grand Lodge of Wisconsin and a Senior DeMolay of the Joseph Miller Chapter (LaCrosse, Wisconsin) he was initiated February 10, 1988 in The University Lodge No. 84 and served as Worshipful Master in 1993. He was elected the District Representative to the Board of General Purposes for Montreal District No. 2 1993/1994 and was appointed District Deputy Grand Master for Montreal District No. 2 in 1994. Nominated Grand Secretary in 1995 he served in that capacity from 1995 until his election to the Office of Deputy Grand Master in 2001. He was elected and installed Grand Master of Masons of Quebec on May 31, 2003 and May 29, 2004. He received the Past Master’s Degree, Grand Lodge of Vermont, District No. 10 and was awarded the Philip C. Tucker Medal by the Grand Lodge of Vermont June 15, 2005. He is a Royal Arch Mason in the Grand Chapter of Quebec having served as Grand Steward, Grand Pursuivant, Grand Principal Sojourner, Grand Scribe Nehemiah, Grand Third Principal and Grand Second Principal; he was installed as Grand First Principal on April 21, 2012. He is a Past First Principal of Coronation Chapter No. 27 and Mount Lebanon-Lakeshore Chapter No. 20, a Virtual Past Master and a member of the Anointed High Priesthood. He is the Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of West Virginia near the Grand Chapter of Quebec. He is also a member of St. Helena Conclave No. 10 of the Masonic and Military Orders of Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine and the orders of The Holy Sepulchre and St. John the Evangelist where he is serving as Viceroy. He is a Past Thrice Illustrious Master of Victoria Council No. 4, Cryptic Rite and a Royal Ark Mariner. He is a Preceptor of Richard Coeur de Lion Perceptory No. 7, Sovereign Great Priory of Canada and the Pre-Eminent Governor of Unity College No. 91, York Rite Sovereign College of North America; he received the York Rite Sovereign College Gold Honor Award in 2005. He is also a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Montreal; Hochelaga Grand Lodge of Perfection, Past Most Wise Sovereign of Hochelaga Sovereign Chapter of Rose-Croix, Montreal Sovereign Consistory, founding member of la loge de perfection Fleur de Lys, Chapitre Rose-Croix Mont Réal, and Consistoire du Phénix. He was coroneted an Honorary Grand Inspector General 33 degree of the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Canada in Halifax in 2006. He is Grand Secretary/Registrar of the Valley of Montreal. 4 He is a member of the Royal Order of Scotland. He is a noble of Karnak Temple No. 81, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and is Secretary/Treasurer of the Hospital Tour Guide Shrine Club. He also was a member of the Grand Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill, Champlain Order No. 115, Yellow Dog Sir Angus Kennel the Argenteuil Club of Lachine and past president of the Montreal Hi-12 Club. He is a member of The Philalethes Society, the Scottish Rite Research Society and the Correspondence Circle of Quator Coronati No. 2076 UGLE, the Masonic Society and the Masonic Book Club. Bertrand Poirier called the Companions to order at 1:30 p.m. and being assured by the Grand Scribe Ezra, M.Ex.Comp. Charles André Bräun, that a constitutional number of Chapters was present, requested the Grand Director of Ceremonies to inform M.Ex.Comp. John E. Leide, Grand First Principal that the Grand Chapter was assembled and awaited his pleasure. The Grand Council, thereupon, entered and assumed their stations and the Grand First Principal declared the 136th Annual Convocation opened in ample form. 9 M.Ex.Comp. Charles André Bräun, Grand Scribe Ezra, read the Notice calling the meeting, and, on a motion duly proposed and seconded, it was unanimously resolved that the agenda be accepted. On a motion duly proposed and seconded, it was unanimously resolved that whereas the Proceedings of the 135th Annual Convocation had been printed and circulated, they be confirmed as printed. Reception of Distinguished Guests & Visitors The Grand Director of Ceremonies informed the Grand First Principal that several distinguished visitors from other Jurisdictions wished to enter the Annual Convocation.
