From styles and music to personal beliefs and morals. Perspectives are never lasting, and over time they end, and transition into new beginnings and new possibilities. The spiral represents these changes and progressions in life. Spirals, like humans, have beginnings, but after time come to an end. They are rigid and never perfect, but then again no one is either. The spiral represents people, and how their imperfections and mistakes turn into a whole picture of beauty and wonder. It represents that no matter where something ends, new beginnings will always form from those endings; and new experiences and opportunities, whether good or bad, will always arise and will always be learned from. This is no different in the halls of Battlefield High School. All the students start as freshmen, and throughout their journey to the top, to claim the prestigious title of “Senior,” class rivalry continues as well as the determination to discover themselves and establish their place in life. Friendships and relationships will end but from those, new ones will begin. Mistakes will be made and new lessons will be learned, but at the end of their high school career, these experiences will all add up, and will be used to start their next “spiral in life”. They often forgot what they wanted to accomplish before leaving Bobcat Nation, and entering the real world. “I created my bucket list in seventh grade, and hope to complete every task before I graduate,” junior Allyson Keeney said. While many people, like Allyson, planned to accomplish their bucket list, others may not even realize they have one. Although, when asked, everyone came up with a couple things they would like to accomplish before they graduate. Although some bucket list activities may be completed quickly, others may take a lifetime. The New Beginning After a Tragic Event When death was all around, and buildings were burned, out of the ashes rose a new beginning. One of the most disastrous events in American history occurred on September 11, 2001. “It was awful, but afterward, we pulled through and it brought us together as a country," senior Saydee Bocanegra said about the tragedy. The moment two planes crashed into the World Trade Center was a moment in which everyone was united as one to help victims during the tragedy. Junior Madison Setness had very strong opinions about the incident, “It was an unfortunate situation but it brought us together as Americans... I didn't realize how big of a deal it really was until I moved to Virginia from Oregon." Americans have come a long way in the last ten years. “1 believe it damaged our country in many ways, but also it has helped to make airplane travel more secure and safe, and as a country we came together to mourn for the people we lost,” Junior Gabby Flores mentioned.
