YEAR OF REPORT : 2012-13 The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessed and accredited Anand Pharmacy College, in March 2009 and was awarded with 2.68 CGPA. The institute continues to provide higher education to the undergraduate and postgraduate students under the course curriculum set by Gujarat Technological University. Maintenance of quality assurance in the part of educational institution becomes a necessity in order to hatching out quality products to the market in these days of „perform or perish‟. Without rigorous filtering of the quality, the desired quality cannot be adduced. And objective of the higher education will be vitiated along with the reputation of the Institution. In order to get the desired level of result, planning, implementation, monitoring and assessment criterion cannot be below the level of quality which needs to be maintained by the Institution concerned with care and diligence. A well planned curriculum, organized manifesto and dedicated work force in implementing the predefined parameter in this regard will lead to a good ending. Keeping this into consideration and with commitment to ensure quality, an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure in our institution. Guidelines of NAAC in this regard were prioritized in structure and functioning of the cell. IQAC has defined the objectives of our institution and worked out an action plan to achieve the same. The IQAC after its formation has been giving due thought to develop a system of conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative standard of the institution thereby enhancing the quality of the institution in all possible ways by fulfilling vision and mission. However, the IQAC has been continuously trying to keep pace with the fast changing needs. Part – A: The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year. ACTIVITIES REFLECTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT: In this post accreditation period, the institution activities were primarily focused on sustenance and enhancement of quality level attained over the years in different aspects of higher education. The institution aims at forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy, socially committed; who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace and who are ever open to further growth. In this period, the institutional activities are primarily focused on achieving the above mentioned goals and objectives and in the sustenance and enhancement of quality level attained over the years in different aspects of higher education. (i) ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES  Provide quality education in the field of humanities, social sciences, and business.  Equip students and teachers to become intellectually competent.  Assist and guide students to become self-reliant.  Non-academic staffs are given periodical training in academic administration.  Assignments, project works, field studies are introduced.  Skill development programmes are introduced to enable the students to acquire professional skills.  Experts are invited to deliver special lectures in the emerging areas.  Equip students for professional excellence, financial independence and enable them to acquire skills to meet the challenges of life.  Ensure individual attention, monitoring of academic progress and overall development through well defined programmes.  Make students and teachers socially sensitive and to develop critical approach towards social inequality. 3 (ii) RESEARCH ACTIVITIES  Promote high quality research on the needs of society with a view to involve in its sustainable development.  To document research findings and extension activities. (iii) EXTENSION ACTIVITIES  Encourage for the creation of efficient and humanizing systems and services.  The college shall promote and support extracurricular activities – NSS, NCC, Sports and Cultural programmes.  Instill and preserve the best values of Indian culture and tradition, while equipping students for global competence.  Promote holistic development of the students through various programmes to create a conducive atmosphere for addressing the physical, psychological, emotional and financial needs of students.  Instill and preserve the best values of Indian culture and tradition, while equipping students for global competence. 2. NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES INITIATED (UG AND PG) The institution had been granted permission by AICTE for initiation of two new PG programs, M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance) and M. Pharm ( Pharmaceutical Technology ) in the academic year 2012-2013 subject to application in the year 2011. The institution had applied for two more new courses, i.e. M. Pharm (Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutics) in the year 2012 for which the permission from AICTE has been granted for total 36 seats for academic year 2013-14. 3. INNOVATIONS IN CURRICULAR DESIGN AND TRANSACTION Since June 2008, the semester system has been introduced by Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and syllabus designed by GTU has been incorporating latest developments. Affiliated colleges have little scope in the preparation of their own syllabus but there are representations from each and every department in doing the same under the guidance of the University. As a part of this, various teachers have provided suggestions to restructure the courses and frame new syllabi. Moreover, Principal of the college represents Dean, Zonal coordinator of Vallabh Vidyanagar zone in GTU and is also an active member in Board of Studies of the same. As a part of syllabus revision in GTU, for the academic year 2012-2013, 4 various changes in the subjects and content of the syllabus was made for implementation in B. Pharm course. This syllabus was effectively implemented for first and second semester B. Pharm. 4. INTER-DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMMES STARTED: NIL 5. EXAMINATION REFORMS IMPLEMENTED Examination reforms are designed by the affiliating University which is followed and implemented in the College. The examination system is followed as per the University guidelines and regulations. We are bound by the university norms and follow them strictly. However, the institute has made its own arrangements for conducting internal tests and mid semester exams as prescribed by University. The college has developed an effective mechanism to ensure greater transparency in evaluation system. Special orientation, assignments and additional tests are being given to students in special cases. Examination work is now computerized partially. Provisional marks cards are provided to out-going students in the form of transcript. Moreover, the exam section has implemented various reforms in the institute for smooth functioning of exams. 6. INITIATIVE TOWARDS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME Proposals for availing grant for organizing conference/ workshop/ seminar were sent to various agencies towards initiating faculty development programme. Grant was received from four agencies (ICMR, GUJCOST, GSPC, IPA-GSB) for organizing conference, workshop for the academic year 2012-2013. Teachers of various departments have attended refresher courses, orientation courses, seminars, workshops etc. for their career development, research as well as for the benefit of the students of the institute. Faculty members have also participated in 2 International levels, 4 National level, 1 state level Conferences, 3 National level Seminar, 1 State level Workshops, 1 national and 1 state level Staff training.
