The unforgettable friendships, the endless summers, and the nights we tore it up. Now, it’s our chance to shine as we take our first steps into the real world. Although it may not seem like it now, we will remember these days at South Windsor High School as some of the best days of our lives. We were the class that brought the life back to this school. We left our mark on SWHS and we will never be forgotten. Whether we realize it or not, we have all grown together over these past four years. As we leave South Windsor and go on into the future, whatever path that may be, remember the school that shaped us to who weVe become, and always continue “Tearirf it Up.” T)ediication Teacher Ms. Henchey Andrea Henchey was bom in Hartford, CT on January 11, 1979. Growing up Ms. Henchey was a self-proclaimed tomboy. She loved playing soccer, riding her family’s horse Tango, and climbing trees. She was most happy when she was dirty and exhausted. She attended Windsor High School and graduated in 1997. She was really involved with S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violations of the Environment) and other volunteer work. She also played lacrosse, though she admits she wasn’t very good. Ms. Henchey attended St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT. majored in English and minored in Art. She then studied abroad in Nepal with the School for International Training. She earned an Master of Arts in Teaching from Smith College. Ms. Henchey is now in her second year of the Rainier Writing Workshop, a Master of Fine Arts program at Pacific Lutheran University. The MFA is in Creative Writing, with a poetry focus. Next year, she is taking a leave of absence from teaching at SWHS so she can complete her MFA in Creative Writing. She says, “It didn’t seem right to tell students they should follow their dreams and not pursue my own! While I’ll miss everyone at the school, I’m thrilled I’ll have the time to really focus on my poetry.” Although Ms. Henchey will be greatly missed next year, it is clear to see the impact she has had on her students. Her kind-hearted and fun loving personality has made students feel comfortable in her class. “I absolutely love my students. I have felt so lucky to be surrounded by such inspired and inspiring young men and women. Everyone else is great too. It’s a pretty dam friendly place. I’ve always felt supported.” "Ms. Henchey is a teacher Hench facts that you can really relate to.
