He later moved to Newton, Kansas where he grew up and attended high school. Like many teenagers, Mr. Brenner was not thrilled with education, often joking with his friends about the prospect of becoming a teacher. What the young Mr. Brenner did not realize was that he would in fact become a cherished teacher in the South Windsor High School staff. Growing up, Mr. Brenner had a variety of interests. He liked to read, listen to music, have fun with his friends and he held a job at the local Dominos. Mr. Brenner was an independent teen, but his change of heart towards teaching all began with the words of his mother. She told him to be quiet, stop complaining and do something; change the way stu¬ dents look at their teachers. After attending UCONN and majoring in English and Anthropology, Mr. Brenner returned to graduate school at the University of Bridgeport, earning his masters in education. Mr. Brenner has worked at South Windsor High School for three years, teaching English courses to sophomores and juniors. Looking at what Mr. Brenner has accomplished so far, it is obvious why his students have deemed him to be such a great teacher. His comical and kind personality makes students feel com¬ fortable and he is always excited to teach. would say my favorite students are the ones who "I need me the least. That is, the ones who push me to bring them more. They aren't necessarily the most brilliant, but they have a desire for learning and don't just accept what I give them.
