Inpharma 1469 - 8 Jan 2005 ■ Sinovac’s coronavirus vaccine* induces coronavirus-neutralising antibodies and is a promising development in SARS prevention,** according to preliminary results from a phase I study. In this study, 36 healthy volunteers were randomised to receive two doses of a coronavirus vaccine (n = 24) or placebo, 28 days apart. After the preliminary 56-day observation period, blood serum conversion was observed in 11 of 12 and 12 of 12 subjects who received high and low doses of the vaccine, respectively.
