This year's dedication is one of those privilages. The senior class has the honor to select. He is one of the most well liked teachers of South Windsor High School, and it brings much pleasure to the class of 1998 as we dedicate the yearbook to Mr. White. Mr. David P.While has been teaching at SWHS for more than 20 years. The majority of these years were spent teaching Chemistry and Physics. But when this school needed more help in subjects like mathematics, Mr.White was eager to volunteer. Mr.White cares about his students and takes the time to make sure that they learn the importance of what they are doing. Mr.White is not only an educator, but a friend. And for those of us who have never known Mr.White,we are considered unlucky. As for those of us who have had the pleasure of working with him, we will never for get his great ability to communicate with us. Mr.White doesn't only teach science and math. He also is an adviser for Global Awareness. He was the one who got the original computers of the high school up and working. But besides being involved in activi¬ ties in the school, he has done a lot outside of the school. Mr.White is a representative at Trinity College for a building project. This project is a lot like the one atthe Hartford Academy. Al¬ though at Trinity students who are interested in science and tech¬ nology would be able to go to Trinity for the beginning of the school day and then continue at their own school for the after¬ noon. Although we all wish that we could spend more than four years with Mr. White, we know that the memories that we have shared with him will stay with us forever. This is our way to show our appreciation for his dedication towards us. 4 Mr. White is... “Mr. White is a great teacher and a great guy” - Chris Denis “His sense of humor makes the educational experience more fulfilling and is something I will not soon forget” - Jon Hornsby “Mr. White’s constant interaction with the students of his chemistry class makes chemistry a subject one wants to learn about” - Monika Idzi “Mr. White goes out of his way to be friendly to everyone” - Kristy Landgrebe “Mr. White makes chemistry fun and inter¬ esting at the same time” - Jeff Donofrio “Mr. White is amazing because he takes the seemingly uninteresting subject of chemis¬ try and makes class very enjoyable” - Jessie Berman Top Left: Mr. White, his wife, Susan, and his dog share a moment together. Top Right: Mr. White's yearbook picture in 1979. Left: Mr. White helps his students understand the fundamentals of chemistry. 5 Academics The main reason we all go to high school is to learn. South Winsor High School offers a wide vari¬ ety of subjects for its students. Many different courses are offered in english, science, social stud¬ ies, math, foreign languages, art, technical educa¬ tion, and music. South Windsor High School also offers a good ad¬ ministration and guidance team that supports and helps students with academic as well as personal problems. South Windsor High School teaches its students the lessons they need for their future. Right: Freshman Ryan Lemieux reads along with the class in his text book. Right: Junior Jason Koelman works on his homework. Far right: Freshman Tanya LaFontaine takes notes in her science class. Far right: Seniors Courtney Albano and Donna Hilton help eachother with a physics problem. Right :Freshmen Keri Willis, Liz Munsell, and Sarah Curran listen attentively to the discussion in their English class. 6
