Whereas, The year 2011 marks the twenty-fi fth anniversary of the founding of the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, and it is appropriate at this time to highlight its many achievements and underscore the positive impact it has made to increasing the awareness and understanding of agriculture among California’s educators and students; and Whereas, With more than seven million students in California, it is essential that these children grow up with an understanding of agriculture’s critical contributions to our society and recognize their daily connection to the products grown on California farms, f ields, and forests; and Whereas, In its 25-year history, CFAITC has touched the lives of more than 10,000,000 California students through its agriculture education programs and resources. Read the resolution in its entirety at www.learnaboutag.org/anniversary/resolution 4 LearnAboutAg.org F› ew› d The world around us seems to be evolving in new ways every day. We are more connected to technology, have immediate access to information, and limitless options for communicating with one another. These developments continue to impact our daily lives, and increasingly, the lives of our younger generations. As advocates and volunteers dedicated to agriculture literacy, our goal is to keep students aware of one of the most fundamental practices in our society—our ability to produce a safe, healthy and abundant food and fi ber supply necessary to sustain our existence. For 25 years California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom has worked diligently to preserve an appreciation and understanding for the people and practices that provide our basic daily needs and most valuable commodities. With your help, we have been able to reach 10,000,000 students over a quarter century. Today, our programs and resources are used in 46% of schools in California, largely thanks to the dedication and support from many of you. As we look back at the beginning of our efforts, 25 years ago with the educators and students of San Francisco Unifi ed School District, we could have never imagined the incredible friends, supporters, success stories and overall positive impact we have had. We thank you for being a part of it all, and hope you enjoy this commemorative yearbook and look back at some of our favorite moments. We are looking forward to sharing many more years and touching many more lives with the gift of agriculture. Thank you for your support, and thank you for celebrating with us.
